State Level Primary Camp

About 35 primary schools with 300 students were trained to be the 1st primary school River Ranger in Kedah by our river ranger of SMK Teloi Kanan. The Programme took place from 5th to 7 september with funding assistant from JPS Kedah.

Students test 4 basic indicators of water quality ; sampling for dissolved oxygen ( DO ) , acidity (pH) , temperature and turbidity (clarity) are important , yet basic indicators of the water quality.

The monitoring activities help students to gain first-hand experience in assessing the health of their local watershed in which they live, how watersheds work and how to protect their waters which have downstream impact. The students use their date to discuss impacts in their local watershed and compare their findings. This is a great way to learn on how monitoring helps to protect our waters.
